Addictos

Of all body-related addictions, addiction to heterosexual porn is the most understandable, addiction to intoxicating beverages like wine is the next most understandable, and addiction to nicotine products, especially cigarettes and cigars, is the least understandable.

None of the "addictions" are useful nor even benign to the well-being and continued functioning of the body, and instead all are destructive leading to extinction.

And what exactly is an "addiction?"

One dictionary describes it as habitual behavior (in mental thought or physical actions).

Like breathing or urinating and defecating, having sex with the spouse, bathing, dressing, and snacking on life-sustaining fruits and health-maintaining vegetables?

Plainly, that definition by itself is insufficient, because the intrinsic meaning of addiction rather involves a slavish and excessive recourse to either some perhaps-debilitating practice or thing one should not allow themselves to repeatedly be overcome by.

That "practice" or "thing" itself might be good or valuable when controlled with sufficient restraint - such as the desire to see and feel and genitalize naked opposite-gender bodies, moderately ingest potentially-intoxicating amounts of relaxing and healthful alcoholic beverages, and even smell the sweet fragrance of smoldering pipe tobacco scenting the air.

As general-public-view semi-indecent-exposure is freely imposed by pervert quasi-adulteressess who (with non-solicited public-nuisance sexual harassment and noxious visually-abusive assault) . . . in quiet rebellion or quasi-ignorance or pseudo-innocence or even outright defiance . . . flaunt their non-tied-back loose long hair [study RSV's/NASV's Numbers 5:18 in context plus RSV's/NASV's Song of Solomon 7:5 in context and KJV's First Corinthians 11:1-16], naked arms with sleevesless garments [study RSV's/NASV's Second Samuel 13:18], nude legs without roomy slacks on but instead with shortened skirts or shorts or whatever [study Isaiah 47:1-4], and/or bare toes and more parts of their soxless naked feet wearing noisy flip-flop sandals [study KJV's/RSV's/NASV's Jeremiah 2:25 in context] -- especially during warmer weather, and at random to men they are not currently married to nor plan to be married to -- so particularly-internet porn [voluntary concocted with and of and by willing female models and purveyors] of all types and severities is consequentially and logically also freely available on the non-filtered (and even filtered) Web . . . all of which senselessness and uselessness leads neither to actual physical romantic encounters and relationships of honorable kinds, nor to species reproduction.

Related to the detailed sexually-oriented Scriptural sex-ed descriptions above, it is not merely lamentable but even diabolical that marriage-disdaining or at least marriage-avoiding mis-renditions of certain non-KJV pseudo-"translations" of especially First Corinthians 7:1-5 [to wit, replacing the words not touch in verse one with the incorrect-according-to-Greek-Text replacement words: not marry] and First Timothy 5:14 [to wit, replacing the words younger women marry with the incorrect-according-to-Greek-Text replacement words: younger widows marry]. . . have disasterously mis-affected the lives of countless young people, who have been deprived and deprived themselves of the sensuous joy, erotic fulfilment, and lifestyle satisfaction that their Creator intended for them . . . . and instead have committed capricious, mis-timed, and half-unsatisfactory temporary liasons of pseudo-erotic degradation leaving them with the sordid underlying or subconscious feeling that sex is something shameful and "dirty."

But rather than young women (and [thus] men) delaying marriage for selfish prestige positions of falsely-"required" continuing-"education" diversionism for the final purpose of ambitiously attaining political or educrat power to lord it over others as overly-credentialed pompous asses (while meanwhile and randomly slipping in a little "hanky-panky" immorality or part-time "affairs" on the side, or wasting themselves with spotty self-sodomizing masturbation), the command from the Almighty Creator is quite clear:

First Corinthians 7:1 [not NIV or similar] Now concerning the matters about which you wrote. It is well for a man to not touch a woman [i.e. lay off the premarital hugging, even hand-holding, and of course massage].
2 But because of the temptation to immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband.
4 For the wife does not rule over her own body, but the husband does; likewise the husband does not rule over his own body, but the wife does.
5 Do not refuse one another except perhaps by agreement for a while, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, lest Satan tempt you through lack of self-control.
6 I say this by way of concession, not of command.
7 I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own special gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.
8 To virgins and widows I say that it is well for them to remain single as I do.
9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame with passion.

First Timothy 5:11 [RSV] But refuse to enroll younger-women widows; for when they grow wanton against Christ they desire to marry,
First Timothy 5:12 and so they incur condemnation for having violated their first pledge.

First Timothy 5:14 So I would have younger women [NOT "widows" - in accord with the Greek-Text word: ne(o)teras and NOT any Greek-Text word ch(e)ras for "widows" within the verse] marry, bear children [with NO use of pregnancy-preventing "birth" "control" whatevers, nor recourse to abortion-homicide], manage their households, and give the enemy no cause to revile us.

"Naughty" peer pressure and greedy advertisement for cigarette smoking is a powerful means and incentive for certain blatantly-irreligious and arrogantly-worldly people to - as pathetic pompous asses - addict themselves to smoking nicotine products. Personally, I do not associate with nor desire to befriend such deviants who, by smoking in poisons from burning tobacco, themselves devastate and abuse their own bodies (and the nearby bodies of even others who do not smoke). And, it is important to understand and admit that tobacco or cigarettes are not being abused in terms of chemical annihilation, but instead it is human abusers who themselves abuse their own bodies (and those of others) who are at fault. God's natural tobacco is definitely not to be blamed nor slandered as if the Creator's naturally-occurring vegetation by itself causes abuse or addition. Same with God's naturally-occurring chemical ingredients for making gunpowder and firearms.

The addiction of interest in this essay is drunkenness.

Notice that yours truly did not instead mis-state: "drinking."

There is a vast difference - no matter what the beverage in question.

A while back I saw a movie within which kidnappers were accousting and confining and chopping up wives of drug dealers, but eventually executed by a retired police detective who had had a problem with addiction to alcoholic beverages and submitted himself to the organization known as Alcoholics Anonymous - which group you the reader have probably heard of.

From what I gathered in the movie about the anti-alcoholism group, reference was made to "God" (but of non-defined identity) as "a Higher Power" and to admitting that one did have a problem with being addicted to alcoholic-beverage over-consumption, and to make amends (as much as possible) to whoever was thought of as having been hurt by the desire-to-be-delivered alcoholic.

Some seemingly-Biblical inferences are apparently engrained in "The Twelve Steps" mantra of those participating in Alcoholics Anonymous rehabilitation, but without specifically identifying and depending upon that "Higher Power God" as the ultimate Redemptive-Atoner Jesus Christ and specifics about what His Scriptural Word has to say about the presence and consumption of alcoholic beverages in general, problem-discernment and problem-resolution and self-sacrifice for past grievances by AA "anonymous" are woefully inadequate.

It behooves all of us to refresh ourselves whatever we ourselves tend or are tempted to be addicted to, such as that resulting in liquids-ingested-related drunkenness.

What first should be acknowledged is that people need to drink something useful in order to continue to healthfully exist with and within their human bodies.

Hence:

Psalm 104:14 You do cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for humans to cultivate, that he (or she) may bring forth food from the earth,
Psalm 104:15 and wine to gladden the heart of humans, oil to make his (or her) face shine, and bread to strengthen the human's heart.

Proverbs 31:6 Give strong drink to him/her who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress;
Proverbs 31:7 let them drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more.

Song of Solomon 8:2 I would lead you and bring you into the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her who conceived me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the juice of my pomegranates.

John 2:9 When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become [potentially-intoxicating and not watered-down grape-juice] wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward of the feast called the bridegroom
John 2:10 and said to him, "Every human serves the good wine first; and when humans have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now."
John 2:11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

First Timothy 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little [12%-alcohol] wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

Must everyone drink some alcoholic beverages in some amount at least sometimes during their lives, or can they remain "teetotalers?"

Leviticus 10:8 And the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying,
Leviticus 10:9 "Drink no wine nor strong drink, you nor your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations."

Judges 13:2 And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had no children.
3 And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman [Samson's mother] and said to her, "Hey, you are barren and have no children; but you shall conceive and bear a son.
4 Therefore beware, and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean,
5 for wow, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from birth; and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines."

Jeremiah 35:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 "Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak with them, and bring them to the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers; then offer them wine to drink."
3 So I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, and his brothers, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites.
4 I brought them to the house of the LORD . . .
5 Then I set before the Rechabites pitchers full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, "Drink wine."
6 But they answered, "We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, 'You shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons forever;
7 you shall not build a house; you shall not sow seed; you shall not plant or have a vineyard; but you shall live in tents all your days, that you may live many days in the land where you travel.'
8 We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, ourselves, our wives, our sons, or our daughters,
9 and not to build houses to reside in. We have no vineyard or field or seed;
10 but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed and done all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
11 But when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, we said, 'Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans and the army of the Syrians.' So we are living in Jerusalem."
12 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
13 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Go and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will you not receive instruction and listen to my words?" says the LORD.
14 "The command which Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine, has been kept; and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father's command. I have spoken to you persistently, but you have not listened to me.
15 I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them persistently, saying, 'Turn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall reside in the land which I gave to you and your fathers.' But you did not incline your ear [i.e. "Lean Forward"] or listen to me.
16 The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have kept the command which their father gave them, but this people has not obeyed me."
17 Therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: "Hey, I am bringing on Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken to them and they have not listened, I have called to them and they have not answered."
18 But to the house of the Rechabites Jeremiah said, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Because you have obeyed the command of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done all that he commanded you,"
19 therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Jonadab the son of Rechab shall never lack a man to stand before me."

Luke 1:15 for he [John the Baptist] will be great before the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

Romans 14:21 it is right to not eat meat or drink wine or do anything that makes your brother [or sister] stumble.

First Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit. All things are lawful to me, but not all things build up.
24 Let no one seek his own, but each one another's.
25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no question for conscience' sake;
26 "for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of it."
27 If any of those who do not believe invite you to a feast, and if you must go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for conscience' sake.
28 But if anyone says to you, 'This is slain in sacrifice to idols,' do not eat for the sake of him who showed it, and for conscience' sake; "for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of it";
29 conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's. For why is my liberty judged by another's conscience?
30 For if I by grace am a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31 Therefore whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give no offense, either to the Jews, or to the Greeks or to the church of God

Of course, it is not the will of the Lord to "over-do it" so as to get drunk with wine . . . whether with beer, whiskey, brandy, vodka, or anything similar.

Getting drunk is obviously condemned by the Lord:

Ecclesiastes 10:17 Happy are you, land, when your king is the son of free men, and your princes feast at the proper time, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

Isaiah 28:1 Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!
Isaiah 28:3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot

Jeremiah 13:12 "You shall speak to them this word: 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, "Every jar shall be filled with wine."' And they will say to you, 'Do we not indeed know that every jar will be filled with wine?'
13 Then you shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Hey, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land: the kings who sit on David's throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
14 And I will dash them one against another, fathers and sons together," says the LORD. "I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.'"
15 Hear and give ear; be not proud, for the LORD has spoken.
16 Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the twilight mountains, and while you look for light He turns it into gloom and makes it deep darkness.

Ezekiel 23:33 you will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow. A cup of horror and desolation, is the cup of your sister Samaria

Hosea 4:18 A band of drunkards, they give themselves to harlotry; they love shame more than their glory.

Joel 1:5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; and wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.

Luke 21:34 "But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare."

Romans 13:13 let us conduct ourselves becomingly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.

First Corinthians 6:9 [KJV and NKJV] Do you not know that the non-righteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate [homogay], nor sodomites,
First Corinthians 6:10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity [indecent exposure and porn], licentiousness [more porno-indecent-exposure-related misbehavior],
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit,
21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit [mandatory as non-road-rage drivers, plus cooks and clerks at fast-food restaurants to fellow workers and customers, or else prompt termination of employment] is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its [lewd-and-indecent-misconduct] passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
26 Let us have no self-conceit, no provoking against [not "of"] one another, no envy against one another.

Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit.

First Peter 4:3 Let the time that is past ["Been There, Done That"] suffice for doing what the nations like to do, living in [immodest/indecent] licentiousness, ["Can't help it. Can't stop now"] passions, drunkenness, revels [bar-room brawls], carousing [gang-gathering disruptions], and lawless idolatry [orgies and much more].

And how is "drunkenness" revealed and described? The symptoms and manifestations of being "drunk?"

Job 12:25 They grope in the dark without light; and He makes them stagger like a drunken man.

Psalm 60:3 You have made your people suffer hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us reel.

Proverbs 23:29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
30 Those who delay long over wine, those who go to try mixed wine.
31 Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly.
32 At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
33 Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind utter perverse things.
34 You will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, like one who lies on the top of a mast.
35 "They struck me," you will say, "but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink."

Isaiah 28:7 These also reel with wine and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are confused with wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in giving judgment.
Isaiah 29:9 Stupefy yourselves and be in a stupor, blind yourselves and be blind! Be drunk, but not with wine; stagger, but not with strong drink!

Jeremiah 25:16 They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of the sword which I am sending among them."

Obadiah 1:16 For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, all the nations round about shall drink; they shall drink, and stagger, and shall be as though they had not been.

Habakkuk 2:16 You will be sated with contempt instead of glory. Drink, yourself, and stagger! The cup in the LORD's right hand will come around to you, and shame will come upon your glory!

There are causes (though not "reasons") why some persons get drunk, and those causes should either be avoided or eliminated or in some adequate way(s) dealt with and resolved.

One cause for drunkenness involves deficiencies and aberrations of and from the inferior gender, potentially or already making a man's life so miserable against (not "for) him to incite him to try avoid such obnoxious reality by inebriation:

Second Corinthians 6:14 Do not be mismated with disbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

Always date to mate, but never date to then sadistically reject and deprive. Do not lead the opposite gender on, with plans to disown them thereafter. It is better to not date some person at all in the first place, and right off, who one definitely plans to not marry anyway.

Proverbs 3:29 Do not plan evil against your neighbor who resides trustingly beside you.
Proverbs 3:30 Do not contend against a person for no reason, when he or she has done you no harm.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all godlessness and wickedness of men (and women) who by their wickedness suppress the truth.

First Thessalonians 5:19-21 Do not quench the Spirit, do not despise prophesying, but test everything; hold fast what is good.

Proverbs 21:9 It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a contentious [or naggy] woman.
Proverbs 21:19 It is better to live in a desert land than with a contentious [arrogantly refractive] and fretful woman.
Proverbs 25:24 It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a [chavinistically-snotty-twit] contentious woman.
Proverbs 27:15 A continual dripping on a rainy day and [an arrogantly-feminist-sexist] contentious woman are alike.

Proverbs 31:12 [A good wife] does [her own husband] good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, and is Himself their Savior.
Ephesians 5:24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their [own] husbands.

Colossians 3:18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

[NO husband nor wife abuse!]

Malachi 2:15 Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does He desire? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of his youth.
Malachi 2:16 "For I hate divorce," says the LORD the God of Israel, "and covering one's garment with violence," says the LORD of hosts. So watch out, and do not be faithless.

Tempted to become drunk by being worried about employment and/or restoring health and/or money to pay bills?

Ecclesiastes 5:12 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

Psalm 49:5 Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me,
6 persons who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?
7 Truly no man/woman can ransom himself/herself, or give to God the price of his (or her) life,
8 for the ransom of his/her life is costly, and can never suffice,
9 that he/she should continue to live on forever, and never see The Pit.
10 Yes, he (or she) shall see that even the wise die, the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their graves are their homes forever [until The Resurrection], their residences to all generations, though they named lands their own.
12 Humans cannot stay in their pomp, they is like the beasts that perish.
13 This is the fate of those who have foolish confidence, the end of those who are pleased with their portion.
14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; Death shall be their shepherd; straight to the grave they descend, and their form shall waste away; Sheol shall be their home.

Ephesians 4:28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his hands, so that he may be able to give to those in need.

First Thessalonians 4:9 But regarding love of the brethren you have no need to have any one write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another;
11 to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you;
12 so that you may walk becomingly toward those outside, and that you may lack nothing [i.e. be dependent upon nobody].

Second Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother (or sister) who is living in [welfare-slacker] idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,
8 we did not eat any one's bread without paying, but with work and labor we were continually busy, that we might not burden any of you.
9 It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.
10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat.
11 For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.
12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.
13 Brethren, do not be weary in well-doing.
14 If any one refuses to obey what we say in this letter, note that person, and have nothing to do with him (or her), that he/she may be ashamed.
15 Do not look on him/her as an enemy, but warn him or her as a brother (or sister).

First Timothy 5:8 If any one does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his own family, he (or she?) has disowned the faith and is worse than a disbeliever.

First Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs.

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for He has said, "I will never fail you nor forsake you."

Much time and precious money is spent (and wasted) on selling and buying anti-anxiety books, taking anti-anxiety classroom courses, watching anti-anxiety TV shows and listening to anti-anxiety tapes, and doing expensive consultations with psychologist and psychiatric shrinks, ingesting anti-anxiety drugs . . . when the Bible has the commanding and finally-adequate answers:

Genesis 22:8 Abraham said, "God will provide Himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son." So they went both of them together.
22:14 So Abraham called the name of that place The LORD will provide; as it is said to this day, "On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided."
45:11 and there I will provide for you, for there are yet five years of famine to come; lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty.'

Psalm 4:5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
9:10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have not rejected those who seek you.
31:6 You [intolerantly and judgmentally] hate those who pay regard to vain idols; but I trust in the LORD.
33:21 Yes, our heart is glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name.
37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will reside in the land, and enjoy security.
37:5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.
52:8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the continual love of God forever.
55:23 But you, God, will throw them down into the lowest pit; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.
56:3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
62:8 Trust in Him at all times, people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Psalm 115:9 Israel, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.
115:10 House of Aaron, put your trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.
115:11 You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.

Psalm 119:41 Let your continual love come to me, LORD, your salvation according to your promise;
Psalm 119:42 then shall I have an answer for those who taunt me, for I trust in your word.

Psalm 125:1 A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but reside forever.
Psalm 127:2 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious labor; for He gives to His beloved sleep.
Psalm 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no help.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.
Proverbs 25:19 Trust in a faithless man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a foot that slips.

Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.

Isaiah 30:12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, "Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on them;
13 therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a break in a high wall, bulging out, and about to collapse, the crash of which comes suddenly, in an instant;
14 and its breaking is like that of a potter's vessel which is smashed so ruthlessly that among its fragments not a sherd is found with which to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern."
15 For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." And you would not,
16 but you said, "No! We will speed upon horses," therefore you shall speed away; and, "We will ride upon swift steeds," therefore your pursuers shall be swift.

Isaiah 31:1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD!
Isaiah 42:17 They shall be turned back and utterly put to shame, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, "You are our gods."
