Saint Peter made the following interesting (and understandable!) observation about some of the [weird?] New-Testament writings of 'I-can-do-ALL?-things-in-Christ-who-strengthens-me' Saint Paul:

Second Peter 3:15 And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
Second Peter 3:16 speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures [as the seems-like-noxious-and-absurd, Torah-forbidden cannibalism of chow-on-my-body/slurp-my-blood Jesus Christ exacerbated by "he is not dead but sleeping' remarks].

Philippians 3:8 Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things [including his sight and hearing, gravity, toilet privileges and more?], and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on [me-trying-to-atone-for-my-past-sins-by-my-intent-to-always-obey-all-of-it-under-wicked-duress] law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith;
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death [does that include being crucified to death?],
11 that if possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

"That I may attain [to] the resurrection . . . ?

It seems incredulous that Paul had any doubt about there being a future resurrection of the dead, so I am perplexed why he stated that.

Actually, when especially Christians consider the concept and event of The Final Resurrection "from" (or rather: of) the dead, they often associate that exclusively and only with the righteous undergoing such a phenomena:

Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there will be two [heterosexuals?] in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.
Luke 17:35 There will be two women grinding [sodomizing not with so-called "gay" "marriage" but instead certified with homosodomy unions licensing?] together; one will be taken and the other left.

John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in Him has eternal life; and I will raise only? him [or her] up at The Last Day."
John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him [and/or her, if your please]; and I will raise him [and/or her and not "it"] up at The Last Day.
John 6:54 he [for males only] who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise only? him [or her -- without incomplete-excretory-and-reproductive-parts-alteration confusing-transgender combos] up at The Last Day.

First Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at THE LAST Trumpet [not a fairy-tale/never-never-land/pie-in-the-sky-by-and-by little bugle for the pre-Tribbers, or a larger trombone-sized trumpet at The Second Coming at Armageddon?]. For THE Trumpet will sound, and the [pre-Tribber?] dead will be raised [at the start of The Seven-Year Antichrist Period (see Daniel 9:27), within which is The [only 42-month -- or a time, two times, plus half a time] Great Tribulation Period?] imperishable, and we shall be changed.

First Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And [ALL of] "the" dead in Christ [only?] will rise first;
First Thessalonians 4:17 then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in "the" "clouds" to meet the Lord in "the" "air" [as the heavens and Earth disintegrate in fervent heat with a loud noise, according to Second Peter 3:10 as the proverbial 'sheep' and 'goats' are gathered before The Great White Throne of The King, according to Matthew 25:31-46]; and so we shall always be with the Lord.

Even when the Lord Jesus returns (at His Second Coming) to Armageddon [without any pre-Trib fly-by for carefree-arrogant cross-of-Christ-despising wimpy-coward persecution-fearful wannabe escapists] to slay The Beast and The False Prophet and their military armies and arsenals, only the following (and not all righteous saints who ever died throughout human history) will actually be bodily resurrected and reign with Christ during The Millennium:

Revelation 20:4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded [ISIS-style?] for their testimony to Jesus and for The Word of God, and who had not worshiped The Beast nor his Image and had not received his Mark on their foreheads or their hands. [Only] they came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Revelation 20:5 The other dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is The First Resurrection.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he [dare I include she also?] who shares in The First Resurrection! Over such The Second Death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with Him a thousand years.

However, it is absolutely clear and impeccably evident in Holy Writ that the wicked will ALSO be resurrected, as inferred by the following verses:

Acts 17:30 "The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all men [maybe even women also] everywhere to repent,
Acts 17:31 because He has fixed a Day on which He [not She] will judge the world [not merely "gentile" "church" members] in righteousness by a Man [not Woman, per the Greek-Text word: andri] whom He has appointed, and of this He has given assurance to all humanity by raising Him from the dead."
Acts 17:32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, "We will hear you again about this."

First Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam [primal ancestor of not merely "church" righteous, but instead ALL humans - both good and evil!] ALL die, so also in Christ shall ALL be made alive.

Second Thessalonians 1:5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be made worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering -- 6 being that indeed God deems it just to requite with affliction those who afflict you,
7 and to grant rest with us to you who are afflicted, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,
8 inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and exclusion [away] from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might,
10 when He comes on That Day to be glorified in His saints, and to be marveled at in all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw [all] the dead [both good AND evil!], great and small, standing [not sitting] before The Throne, and books were opened. Also another Book was opened, which is The Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done [i.e. which obviously includes both good and evil works and not simply non-reliable "faith" or hit-and-miss "faithlessness"].
Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead in it, [the demon-angel in charge of] Death and [the demon angel controlling] Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done.
Revelation 20:14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into The Lake of Fire. This is The Second Death, The [Outer-Darkness] Lake of [Invisible] Fire;
Revelation 20:15 and if any one's name was not found written in The Book of Life, he [or she, but not the soul-less Image] was thrown [not gently and politely escorted] into The Lake of Fire.

Annihilation by being cremated, with ashes spread all over the place?

NO annihilation whatsoever, no matter what the demise or deterioration of the corpses!

"Eternal destruction" (stated in Second Thessalonians 1:9) plainly means that resurrected human flesh, forever suspended in Outer Darkness, will constantly be consumed . . . but perpetually being renewed with more to burn for never-ending ongoing anguish by the invisible flames of The Lake of Fire.

That ties right in with:

Luke 16:23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:28 for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment goes up to the ages of the ages; and they have no rest, day or night [equivalent duration periods], these worshipers of The Beast and his [Ultimate-Graven-Image-Idol] Image, and whoever receives the [666-tattoo embedded-RFID-I.D.-chip?] Mark of his name."

Obviously then: Jezebel, Athaliah, Goliath, Saul, Haman, the Rabshekah, Hananiah, Judas Iscariot, Marcion, Westcott and Hort, Booth, Hitler, Goering, Goebbels, Himmler, Dillinger and Oswald, and many more will come to life again to stand Judgment, as will Stalin and Mao and Saddam, Gurdijiev, Madame Blatavsky, Rasputin, Lenin, Marx, Rod Serling, Timmy McVey, and Atta who demolished one of NYC's Trade Towers . . . to name a very very few of the totality of many many more (who are much less conspicuous):

Be "narrow-minded?" Have Grey Poupon? But of course:

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many [over 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%?].

Matthew 7:22 On that day MANY will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'
Matthew 7:23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; get out of here, you evildoers.'

Matthew 13:36 Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field."
37 He answered, "He who sows the good seed is the Son of man;
38 the field is the world, and the good seed means the sons of the kingdom; the weeds are the sons of the evil one,
39 and the enemy who sowed them is The Devil; the harvest is The Close of The Age, and the reapers are angels.
40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the close of the age.
41 The Son of man will send His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers [not merely "their sin"],
42 and throw [not softly place] them [without their after-the-fact permission] [suspended within Outer Darkness] into The Furnace of Fire; there men (and women!) will weep and gnash their teeth.
43 Then the righteous will [brilliantly!] shine like the Sun in the kingdom of their Father. He/She who has ears, let him [or her] hear."

47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind;
48 when it was full, men [males, usually] drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad.
49 So it will be at The Close of The Age. The angels will come out and separate the away evil from the righteous,
50 and throw them [or toss, or heave them] into The Furnace of Fire; there men (and the inferior gender) will weep and gnash their teeth."

Matthew 22:14 For many [and what part of M A N Y do we not understand?] are called, but few [ and what part of F E W do we not understand?] are chosen."

Matthew 24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray.
Matthew 24:10 And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another.
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.

Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter by the narrow door; for MANY, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able."

John 5:25 "Truthfully I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the [ALL] dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself,
27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is THE Son of Man.
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when [ALL both righteous and wicked] who are in the tombs will hear His voice
29 and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of eternally-repetitious death."

Romans 9:27 And Isaiah [non-antisemitically] proclaims concerning (not "regarding") Israel: "Though the number of the sons [and daughters, including Barbara Streisand types] of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved.

First John 2:18 Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour.
First John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Second John 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men (and women) who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is a deceiver and an antichrist.
