Critique

I suspect that the people who are going to be named in the following piece are only the proverbial "tip of the iceberg" of a myriad of others (both within "the Church" and outside of such) for which the expose applies. Perhaps you, the reader, are quite familiar or even involved with, the near-equivalent situation or situations upon which yours truly will expound. The ones alluded to (who most of you readers are not familiar with) are, by arbitrary happenstance "the lucky ones:" puffed-of-necessity examples to "teach all of us a vital lesson."

Perhaps the best that could be said about the contents of a January 2014 article in NALC News written by clergy-collared Steve Shipman ('director' of Lutheran CORE) can be summed up in the following verses:

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 25:15 With patience a ruler may be persuaded, and a soft tongue will break a bone.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer every one.

Second Timothy 2:24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing,
Second Timothy 2:25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth....

First Peter 3:15 ...but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence...

However, certain statements within the following Scriptural passages, some of which apply to the best of Shipman, also are applicable to what seems to me to be his greatest weakness:

Numbers 14:9 Only, do not rebel against the LORD; and do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us; their protection is removed from them, and the LORD is with us; do not fear them."
Numbers 21:34 But the LORD said to Moses, "Do not fear him; for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon."

Deuteronomy 1:21 Hey, the LORD your God has set the land before you; go up, take possession, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you; do not fear or be dismayed.'
3:2 But the LORD said to me, 'Do not fear him; for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.'
20:3 and shall say to them, 'Hear, Israel, you draw near this day to battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint; do not fear, or tremble, or be in dread of them;
31:6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread of them: for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you."
31:8 It is the LORD who goes before you; he will be with you, He will not fail you or forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed."

Joshua 8:1 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear or be dismayed; take all the fighting men with you, and get up, go up to Ai; see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai [ already - before we fight them? ], and his people, his city, and his land;
Joshua 10:8 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands; there shall not a man of them stand before you."

Psalm 118:6 With the LORD on my side I do not fear. What can man do to me? [ WHAT do you THINK man could do to you? The molten copper that greedy-idol-maker-and-imposer Alexander the Coppersmith smelted perhaps was very painful as a recompense for the damage Alex did to Saint Paul ]

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man lays a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe. [ To be sure! ]

Isaiah 7:4 ...Watch out, be quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two smoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and the son of Remaliah.

Isaiah 8:12 "Do not call conspiracy all that this people call conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread."
Isaiah 57:11 Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not give me a thought? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and so you do not fear me?

Jeremiah 1:17 But you, dress up your loins; get up, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them.
Jeremiah 42:11 "Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not fear him," says the LORD, "for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand."

Zephaniah 3:16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak."

Malachi 3:5 "Then I will draw near to you for judgment; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the traveler, and do not fear me," says the LORD of hosts.

Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 12:4 "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do."

First Peter 3:13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous [ hear that, Shipman: zealous! ] for what is right?
14 But even if you do suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
15 but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence;
16 and keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
17 For it is better to suffer for doing right, if that should be God's will, than for doing wrong.

It, of course, behooves all of us - not merely IRS-designated-by-501(c)3-non-profit-status-affiliation "Rev?" Shipman [ "authorized" by his IRS-approved 501(c)(3)non-profit-"church"-designated "seminary" ], to not fear activist homoperverts, nor feminists, nor pornographers, nor evolutionists, nor antisemites, nor anyone else clearly contrary to God's Word and will.

Shipman states that he "loves his gay son," and that we Christians should "take time to get to know gay and lesbian people," and that "gay men I have been privileged to talk with have not been strident...." who "need our love and our friendship, not our condemnation" as he takes it upon himself to degrade all of us by stating: "Each of us battles our own demons..."

He, like the tolerant-and-even-promotive-of-homosexual ELCA who he is supposed to contrast from and be opposed to, has a semantical weakness in stating that: "the Body of Christ will be built up in the power of God's Word and Spirit -- and why THAT is insufficient is that the Church will instead be built up in God's Word itself and Spirit Himself (not merely "the power" thereof).

It is intriguing that, even though as a father, he is intimately related to his "own" son and his overseer in the flesh, that he would put out the questionable words: "...love his son." Such statement of "love" insinuates possible acquiescence-by-attrition with and fearing his son and consequent allowance or reluctant compliance with his son's homosexuality, at least apparently manifested in a conspicuous lack of indicative words displaying righteous anger, disdain, and even zealously-vehement abhorrence against the homoperversion of his own offspring.

Matthew 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me...

Probably Shipman would object to the accusation, contending that he loves the Lord and His ways more than his son and his ways. But really, pastor Shipman? Be VERY honest [ you cannot have it BOTH ways, even in the slightest ], and not in ANY way double-minded in thought AND words AND actions:

James 1:7 For that person must not suppose that a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways, will receive anything from the Lord.

Shipman's adverse reaction against violent terms is not reflective of Jesus Himself calling the Pharisees the flagrant but deserving names He called them, especially during His understandable not-THAT-"extremist" rampage in the temple overturning the tables of the greedy and irreligious moneychangers. Such pseudo-"radical" exhibition of wrath by the Lord Himself is mirrored at significant times and occasions by both Saint Paul in the New Testament and by the sometimes harsh and thankfully and quite-deserving cruel words [ and, at times, even lethal actions ] of the holy prophets of the Old Testament.

It reminds me of the chiding Paul gave to the Corinthians:

Second Corinthians 11:19 For you gladly bear with fools, being wise yourselves!
Second Corinthians 11:20 For you bear it if a man makes slaves of you, or preys upon you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face.
Second Corinthians 11:21 To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that...

Was it not "extreme" for Jesus to retort to Saint Peter: "Get behind me, Satan? "Satan?" A little on the rude and discourteous side, to say the least?

Not!

My next target is Amy Schifrin, which somewhat-mopheaded religious person is associated with NALC (the partial-breakaway-from-ELCA North American Lutheran Church).

Although even at Mount Carmel Bible Carmel in Alexandria Minnesota, when Carla Holtermann gave weekday-morning Bible studies, men were not required to sit under her tutorage but could instead go off and play tennis or fish or do other several other things instead of being instructed by a woman (knowledgeable and modestly-attired as she was).

It behooves the NALC to not merely keep in mind but put into consistent effect and practice - without ANY exceptions - the following admonition:

First Corinthians 14:33 God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
34 women should keep silence in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says [ High-Priestess-of-Abortion-Choice Hillary "Vince-Foster/Benghazigate" Clinton included ].
35 If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.
36 What! Did the word of God originate with you, or are you the only ones it has reached?
37 If any one thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that what I am writing to you is a command of the Lord.
38 If any one does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

Moreover:

First Timothy 2:11 Let a woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 I allow NO woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve [ which obvious reference to ALL humanity for ALL time includes but also goes WAY beyond the mere boundaries of "the Church" and includes all aspects of government and civilian offices and duties ];
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
15 Yet woman will be saved through bearing children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with sensibility.

It is irrelevant - even heretical and apostate - for a voted-in-by-congregant-carnality deacon or bishop or pastor to justify his giving a woman permission, on the presumed grounds of his alleged god-given and god-ordained and supposed ecclesiastical authority, to speak to other men without the prior knowledge and/or permission of those other men. And heavy-handed or deceptive tyranny is no excuse for letting a woman ascend to the front to blatter away to the admitted or non-admitted irritation and consternation of men who reluctantly have to hear her rant.

Any religious heretic, who misapplies or misinterprets or misconstrues the following Bible verse:

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus...

...to contradict the plain and common-sense meaning and application of above-mentioned First Corinthians 14:33-38 and First Timothy 2:11-14, truly deserves to be called a genuine and bonafide heretic (such as a certain lutheran "rev" Schuler - formerly one of my church supervisors - and a certain presbyterian "pastor" Genereux, another of my former church supervisors), as are those (such as a certain "canon rev" Bart Ryan and even Paul Kolesch, the former being one of my previous supervisors) which now-retired "priest" did not and thus could not apply the two aforementioned passages of First Corinthians and First Timothy to actual women-speaking-in-church feminist atrocities in practical reality (with or without vestry-chairperson Tara present), but obtusely explained away such plain and common-sense meanings into the vague "mother-church" netherworld of theophilosophical lala-land.

Choice description of such demonic deviance is expressed well by the following:

Second Corinthians 4:2 We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to every human's conscience in the sight of God.

Second Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Titus 1:10 For there are many insubordinate men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially the [ church-rituals-and-polity ] circumcision party;
Titus 1:11 they must be silenced, being they are upsetting whole families by teaching for base gain what they have no right to teach.

Second Peter 3:15 And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
Second Peter 3:16 speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and non-stable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.

And there is even an immoral [fornicative or adulterous] pornographic-of-sorts-related problem with the inferior gender speaking to men, [pseudo]-"authorized" or not:

Song of Solomon 2:14 Oh my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the covert of the cliff [ NOT up in some pulpit or lectern in front of everyone], let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is attractive.

Along those lines, keep the legs-baring ignorantly-or-deliberating-enticing women OUT of the front pews and thus OUT of the sight of male speakers in the pulpit or lecturn....the nude legs of which female morons or idiots (take your choice) are hidden out of view. Best yet, do not even allow them entrance into the auditorium mis-dressed that way, and security guards must be both brave and courageous concerning that problem and situation.

It is, of course, acceptable for Ms Amy Schifrin to discourse in the presence of women and children only - but not men -- and "missionary report" exceptions for women-gender speakers should be pre-publicized with appropriate gender-related warnings so that men can avoid such if they wish, instead of being unawares and deceived by advertisers stating only the last names of the proposed woman speaker or her full name with an either-gender first name resulting in inability to distinguish gender.

Case in point, and this one is the ultimate despicable absurdity: the so-called "pastor" Cori [ is that Corey or Coree or Corri? ] Johnson (who chairs the ELCA Witness, a task force of the Lutheran CORE steering committee.

So the Devil is engrained within the camp of the saints:

Jude1:4 For admission has been secretly gained by some who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our God into [ indecently-hairstyled-mopheadedness ] licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Oh she can quote Scripture, perhaps fluently, as did Satan in the desert when tempting Christ.

But:

Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works; they are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good works.

Judged by works?

Matthew 7:16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Luke 6:46 "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?"
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.

The impenitent and perverted ELCA catalyst with NALC Ms Johnson is a prime example of piss mixed with pop, and poop with pudding. [ Savor the semantics, Shipman ].

The arrogant-twit virulently-demon-eyes indecently-hairstyled female-mophead Cori Johnson has apparently been given free rein to contaminate and defile CORE with her eager young rabid feminist aggressiveness and cute-faced seductiveness, puffed up by her sensuous mind -- oblivious toward and captivated by her wolf-in-sheeps-clothing religiosity and trappings thereof for the purpose of contrived synodical legitimacy using Johnson as a glamor-girl youth-ministry-attraction liaison with and for disgruntled and disappointed fugitives from the mainline whoring ELCA.

It is not merely sad and pathetic, but lamentable and even deplorable, that certain wimpish and apparently quasi-devious leaders of CORE have included Ms Cori Johnson in their company.....a noxious and intrinsically-sexist porno-hairstyled false-prophetess Jezebel (like FOX's Ann Coulter) who should have been ousted and excluded a long time ago from the start.
