The CORE/Word-Alone meeting at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley MN on 25 July 2009 and consisting of about 20 or so people attending was quite informative as to preliminary procedural information and planning.
Some highlights this webauthor recorded (hopefully accurate and factual) are as follows.
Pertaining to THE GLOSSARY OF ELCA JARGON AND ACRONYMNS:
Besides the terms:
Assembly (which are churchwide, synodical, or local legislative bodies)
Churchwide Assembly (which are the highest legislative body composed of 66 bishops and others meeting every two years for one week, headquarters with national offices at Chicago)
Church Council (which is 2nd highest legislative churchwide body composed of 4 ELCA officers and 33 others from synods meeting twice a year)
Conferences or Clusters (smaller group subdivided into districts)
Program Units (formerly called "Commissions")
Regions (consisting of 9 geographic ones)
Synods (64 geographic and 1 non-geographic subdivisions of the ELCA)
Quota System (typically [and questionably!] having consisted of 50% female, 50% male, 60% lay, 40% clergy and 10% foreign or ethnically-distinctive minorities)
Rostered Leaders (official list of ELCA-approved ministers in the ELCA, including ordained pastors and lay ministers)
some of the prominent ones for this Convention are:
Definitions and Guidelines for Discipline (D & G) (which have historically been based on such premises as: "Practicing homosexual persons are precluded from the ordained (which could by amendment be changed to: rostered) ministry of this church.")
Visions and Expectations (V & E) (which is a Church Council policy document stating ELCA's expectation for pastors and other church leaders, such as: ordained (and/or rostered?) ministers who are homosexual in ideology are expected to abstain from actual physical homosexual relationships)
Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust (HSGT) (which is the proposed Social Statement of Human Sexuality - requiring not Simple Majority of 50%+ but instead 2/3 Majority of Churchwide Assembly for passage and adoption - to be considered at the 2009 Churchwide Assembly in Minneapolis in August 2009)
Journey Together Faithfully (JTF) (which is a series of three ELCA Sexuality Task Force studies leading to the proposed Social Statement of Human Sexuality)
Report and Recommendations on Ministry Policies (RRMP) (which in the case of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly Convention are resolutions proposed by the Sexuality Task Force to approve same-gender sexual unions and local congregational option for practicing homosexuals to serve as ordained (and/or: rostered?) pastors and lay ministers)
and procedurally, in accord with Robert's Rules of Order involve:
Memorial (which is a special type of resolution used by a synod assembly to address the Churchwide Assembly)
Resolution (which is a formal motion passed by assemblies or councils)
Voting Member (presently numbering 1043, who are members of congregations or synods selected by congregations or synods to represent them in Churchwide Assembly)
The Preliminary Program for the 2009 Churchwide Assembly indicates that the official business will transact in the Minneapolis Convention Center near Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis in Hall E, and order will be maintain against disorderly agitators by Convention Center Security (and Minneapolis Police, if and then as need requires).
Some crucial and mportant events occurring within Hall E in the Convention Center are to be as follows.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT POTENTIALLY DISRUPTIVE OUTSIDE HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVISTS
Ignore and do not communicate with mindless in-your-face agitators interested only in rudely, impolitely, senselessly and illogically spewing their errant and obnoxious diatribes while learning absolutely nothing themselves whatsoever. Do not speak to them; avoid and do not associate (as Scripture commands) with divisive fools who merely have a demonic craving to irrationally condemn, criticize, demean, insult, revile, slander, and possibly assault.
Hotel and Convention Security should be notified in cases of excessive trouble-causers, and police can be summoned by cellphone 911 calls if necessary.
For those inside the Convention Center who dialogue sensibly, calmly, and logically, it might work to love them enough to tell them that they are not correct but then show gently them what is correct by Scripture.
As was the case with Martin Luther who did not want to leave the Catholic Church, but was excommunicated as a heretic by cultically-deviant roman-"catholic" sectarians, so the intention of CORE/Word Alone is not necessarily to leave the ELCA but rather cooperate with them only in areas where they continue to be Scripturally acceptable.
The HSGT Social Statement as is can be rejected entirely either sooner or later during the Convention, or parts of it amended and then passed in revised form. The HSGT and related Four Policy Parts can be accepted sequentially, or only some of them or one of them finally passed, and then only as amended.
If a majority of voting members accept the HSGT and Four Policy Parts as they are now, CORE will call for public redirection of finances and benevolence, which could result in lawsuits from ELCA hierarchy, but which could be appealed and with counter-suits to higher courts even with inexpensive public defenders, thus possibly more or less bankrupting the ELCA hierarcy which is financially dependent upon tithes-in-offering-plates and donation congregational and constituent support.
The recent split of church property assets within the Episcopal and Anglican denominations, and the consequential re-awakening having occurred recently within the Church of England and the Methodist Church, the Body of Christ is not intended to be a haven nor battle ground for no-wedding-garment impenitent homogay and homosodomite weeds among the wheat who would never be happy nor satisfied with the ben-Ashur Masoretic Hebrew Text of the Old Testament nor the Scrivener-Trinitarian Greek Text of the New Testament (rendered into various somewhat-discrepant-against-each-other English translations). There comes a time to "judge those inside the Church," as Jesus through Paul directed.
Obviously, queers and faggots would also not be content eternally in Heaven either, where perfect obedience and holiness in accord with the Lord's Biblical righteousness occurs in impeccable consistently without any exceptions whatsoever - to the ages of the ages. Thus, it is futile to try to appease such perverts (be they wolves-in-sheeps-clothing presently-rostered clergy or fake clergy or whoever) who simply will never ideologically nor behaviorally comply with God's written Word in the areas of not simply homosexuality but all other social-issue areas of human experience.
God's love, mercy, and forgiveness is not a license to do homogay and homosodomite evil, and clearly the Lord's condemnation against such wicked sexuality is plainly visible in such passages as Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-28, and First Corinthians 6:9-10 (deciphering the Greek word malakoi with the English word effeminate and the Greek word arsenokoitai with the English word sodomites in that Corinthian passage).
Jesus made the parameters plain when He stated: "Why do you call me "Lord' and do not do what I tell you?" That is not unlawful and illegal discrimination or narrow-minded and bigoted intolerance on God's part, but rather His righteous judgment and justice...accepted and embraced only by those who truly and genuinely love but never criminally hate Him.
No CORE nor Word Alone supporter is perfect themselves, as neither were any of the Old and New Testament patriarchs, prophets, and apostles. But at least they are drawing a much-needed line in the sand, and will receive Christ's richest blessings now and later for that.
While we're on the subject of contemporary social issues........
Sonja Sottomayor does not regret making her freudian-slip statement that a Hispanic woman can "add something to the court a white male cannot."
Add "something" indeed: a lot of sexually-harassing gender-chauvenistic prejudice!
She still feels the same way; nothing has changed!
What she does regret is that her sexist statement has been widely publicized, and is proof to honest people that she has gender bias, and therefore is not qualified to sit on the High Court.
Ironic, isn't it? The same sexist declaration years ago that got her into a lower court because of sexist superiors now is the reason she might not be confirmed nor appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hopefully, she will be borked by the discerning, courageous, and trustworthy.
It is lamentable (to say the least) concerning the mis-semantics on both sides of the abortion-homicide issue.
Many anti-abortionists use the wrong word: "perform" [abortion-homicide] instead of COMMIT [abortion-homicide].
"Medical" "skill" in doing bloody butchery mangling the would-have-been mother and murdering the fetal human baby is not worthy of the word: "perform." And the legality/illegality-always-in-flux criminality of doing abortion-homicide should be described with the term: "commit" rather than: "perform."
Many pro-abortionists use the wrong word: "choice" when referring to the implied decision and opportunity to decide to choose to commit: abortion-homicide!
Obvously, the word choice is neither a synonym for NOR against abortion-homicide - being that "choice" is used to select either one OR the other (but not both).....as one either stops at a RED light OR instead goes forward at a GREEN light, or goes BACKWARD instead of FORWARD.
For example, the English Webster-defined word: "oxygen" is NOT a synonym for the word: "hemoglobin" nor is the word: "clouds" a synonym for the word: "root beer."
Moreover, "choice" is a given for everyone - whether they choose to commit (NOT "perform") abortion-homicide OR choose to not commit abortion-homicide.
Thus, the factor of "choice" is....pertaining to the subject matter....irrelevant!
Until both sides of the abortion-homicide controversy correct their errant wording, no progress can be made in clarifying the positioning of those for and those against abortion-homicide, and the vital ramifications resulting from such revision.
