Eucharistic Euphemism

One of the worst blasphemies possible is people presuming that they can self-atone for themselves by themselves (i.e. take away their own sins of themselves by themselves for themselves) by occasionally enough nibbling tidbits of communion wafers or crackers and sipping a little wine or grape juice - all in the name of the alleged "body of Christ" THEY artificially construct or designate as self-proclaimed Divine human flesh and blood, which THEY purportedly sacrifice back to Him by themselves for themselves.

Forget belief in the atonement of Jesus by Jesus for THEM which Jesus by Himself did one time on His cross. Forget true obedience to every jot and tittle of His Law. Simply often-enough ingest a few churchy appetizers for sins-absolving justification and sanctification.

What despicable and hideous blasphemy!

I think that the Baptists - not Lutherans nor Episcopalians nor Anglicans nor Presbyterians nor Methodist nor Catholics - understand it best: as euphemistic symbolism.

It is understandably noxious - at first glance - for a sincere and sensible bonafide Jew to stomach or even patiently tolerate the following seemingly cannibalistic and even insanely-demonic if not blasphemously-absurd utterances attributed to Jesus Christ in the New Testament of The Sacred-66-books Judeo-Christian Holy Bible:

John 6:53 Then Jesus said to them, "Truthfully I say to you, unless ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.
6:54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him [ and also perhaps her? ] up at the Last Day.
6:55 For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
6:56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood resides in Me, and I in him.
6:63 It is the Spirit who quickens; the flesh profits nothing. The words (NOT actual DNA-and-cellular human flesh along with chromosome-corpuscle actual human blood) that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Thank God for the CRUCIAL verse 63 fortunately clarifying the previous verse 53, upon reading which verse 53 normal and sane people are almost ready to vomit.

Whew! THAT was a close one.

So what exactly did Jesus infer by His quick-recovery words as a prompt follow-up to His quasi-cannibalistic exclamation being merely(?) [euphemistic?] "spirit" and "life?" - whatever THAT meant?

The Dracula-reminiscent blood-drinking admonition almost conjured up the ancient curse:

Leviticus 7:27 Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.
Leviticus 17:10 If any person of the house of Israel or of the strangers who travel among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him/her? off from among his/her? people.

Eating pig in the form of ham or bacon is one thing, per:

Mark 7:15 There is nothing from outside a human that, entering into him/her?, can defile him/her?; but the things which come out of him/her?, those are they that defile the human.
17 And when He had entered into the house away from the people, His disciples asked Him concerning the parable.
18 And He said to them, "Are y'all also without understanding? Do y'all not perceive that whatever thing enters from outside into a human cannot defile him/her?,
19 because it enters not into his/her? heart, but into the belly and goes out into the drain, thereby purging all meats?"

And:

Acts 10:9 Next day, as they went on their journey and drew near to the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10 And he became very hungry and desired to eat; but while they were making ready, he fell into a trance,
11 and saw heaven opened and a certain vessel [ reminds us of Noah's Ark ] descending to him as though it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners and let down to the earth,
12 wherein were all kinds of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts and creeping things and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat."
14 But Peter said, "Not so, Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
15 And the voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God hath cleansed, do not call that common."
16 This was done three times, and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

. . . but slurping blood is quite another, even nauseating onesself ingesting pink-to-red non-well-done meats (especially pork).

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."
Mark 14:22 And as they ate, Jesus took bread, and blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."
Luke 22:19 And He took bread, and gave thanks and broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me."

No qualifiers this time. Actual human tissue and muscle flesh to ingest?

Not unheard of:

Deuteronomy 28:53 And you shall eat the offspring of your own body, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you.

Second Kings 6:28 And the king asked her, "What is your trouble?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.'
Second Kings 6:29 So we boiled my son, and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, 'Give your son, that we may eat him'; but she has hidden her son."

Ezekiel 4:8 And, hey, I will put cords upon you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other, till you have completed the days of your siege.
9 And you, take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt, and put them into a single vessel, and make bread of them. During the number of days that you lie upon your side, 390 days, you shall eat it.
10 And the food which you eat shall be by weight,20 shekels a day; once a day you shall eat it.
11 And water you shall drink by measure, 1/6 part of a hin; once a day you shall drink.
12 And you shall eat it as a barley cake, baking it in their sight on human dung."
13 And the LORD said, "Thus shall the people of Israel eat their bread unclean, among the nations whither I will drive them."
14 Then I said, "Ah Lord GOD! Hey, I have never defiled myself; from my youth up till now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has foul flesh come into my mouth."
15 Then he said to me, "See, I will let you have cow's dung instead of human dung, on which you may prepare your bread."

Yummy - with or without ketchup, and/or mustard. Great with barbeque sauce.

One "Sorry, I lost my appetite" sacred incentive to fully comply with:

Proverbs 23:20 Be not among winebibbers, or among gluttonous eaters of meat...

Matthew 26:28 for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

[ NOTE: Did not know that the New Testament literally? had Christ's literal? blood therein, nor that it had already been shed before the crucifixion at Calvary there at that Last Supper? ]

Matthew 26:29 But I say to you, from now on I will not drink of this fruit of the vine [ better than kosher Mogen David or Manischewitz? ] until that Day when I drink it new with you in My Father's Kingdom." [ One LONG time to wait for the booze! ]

[ NOTE: Oh oh. Looks like that "bloody New Testament" was qualified as a plain-and-simple euphemism with the vital rescue words: "fruit of the vine." We're obviously now talking potentially-intoxicating wine now rather than real human blood.

Mark 14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
Mark 14:25 Truthfully I say to you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."

[ NOTE: Ditto to Matthew 26:28 and 29 ]

Luke 22:17 And He took the cup, and gave thanks and said, "Take this, and divide it [ bust it into porcelin or alabaster shards? ] among yourselves;
Luke 22:18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God shall come."
Luke 22:20 Likewise also He took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you.

[ NOTE: The ordering of the verses and words thereof in the Luke 22 passage above is sort of confusing with the addition of the word "Likewise" in verse 20, being that - according to the text - He had already taken hold of the cup in verse 17 ]

First Corinthians 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me."
First Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner also He took the cup when He had supped, saying, "This cup is the new testament in My blood: this y'all do, WHENEVER (not: "as often!) as y'all drink it, in remembrance of Me."

[ NOTE: "As often or As oft as y'all drink it," - as most translations mis-render First Corinthians 11:25? Would that be every hour of every day? "Often" enough? How about once in the morning and once in the evening every day? Once every Sunday morning and evening? Once every Sunday morning? Twice a month? Once a month on the first Sunday?

How about rather:

Leviticus 23:5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is the LORD's passover.

Numbers 9:2 Let the people of Israel keep the passover at its appointed time.
Numbers 9:4 So Moses told the people of Israel that they should keep the passover [ maybe this is where Saint Paul got the idea for Us-Repeating-the-Last-Supper-Remembrance Ritual in his First-Corinthians-chapter-11 TINY tidbit in ONLY ONE of his COPIOUS epistolic writings ].
Numbers 9:5 And they kept the passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, in the wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the people of Israel did.

Judges 21:19 So they said, "Hey, there is the yearly feast of the LORD at Shiloh, which is north of Bethel, on the east of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and south of Lebonah."

First Samuel 1:21 And the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and to pay his vow.
First Samuel 2:19 And his mother used to make for him a little robe and take it to him each year, when she went up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
First Samuel 20:6 If your father misses me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked leave of me to run to Bethlehem his city; for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.'

Nehemiah 10:32 We also lay upon ourselves the obligation to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God [ once-a-year 1/3-shekel offering in the offering plates ]

Luke 2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover.

Hebrews 9:25 Nor was it to offer Himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the Holy Place yearly with blood not his own

. . . so how about instead having communion only once a year - like sometime during Holy Week before Easter? ]

Getting back to the WEIRD eucharistic words of our Lord . . .

Now, before we all desert and drop Jesus (and Paul) like hot potatoes - dogmatically concluding that both were totally-lunatic nutjobs for mouthing the cannibalistic-sounding mantras they are said to have said, we should keep in mind other sayings attributed to the holy-and-spotless radical-reformation-rabbi Jesus:

John 15:3 Now are y'all clean through the Word which I have spoken to you.

[ NOTE: Which - among many - "word" was THAT? ]

[ NOTE: Why the need for the crucifixion later on? If His pre-American pre-2013 disciples were already made clean by the words which Christ spoke to them (and only them) way before the eventual lynching and pseudo-"legal" murder against Jesus at Calvary, what was the point of Jesus actually dying on some cross? ]

John 7:8 (RSV) Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come."
John 7:8 (KJ21) Go ye up to this feast. I go not up yet to this feast, for My time is not yet fully come."

The vital word yet in the KJ21 clarifies and neutralizes an apparent lie of Jesus (who eventually did go up to that feast) which the RSV mistranslation mis-insinuates.

John 8:12 Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world."

[ NOTE: Sounds like He claimed to be one heck of a huge global light source - before arc floodlights. Did not know that a human body could light up the entire planet, including the rotating half always in the dark of night. Was He claiming competition against that solar-system star we call the Sun? ]

John 10:7 Then said Jesus to them again, "Verily, verily I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:9 I am the door; by Me if any human enters in, he/she? shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

[ NOTE: What kind of wood or whatever door was He claiming to be? Sycamore, oak, pine, or maple? Maybe an iron or copper door? Did not know that men need to "find pasture?" Finding pasture for what purpose? Grazing? ]

John 11:11 These things said He, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awaken him out of sleep."
John 11:12 Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleep he shall do well."
John 11:13 However Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He had spoken of the taking of rest in sleep.
John 11:14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead."

Why did not Jesus say dead in the first place, to avoid confusion and misunderstanding? Such strange mis?-use of words could be dangerous later on, if not devastating under certain circumstances and in certain emergency situations! Roman undertakers and coroners probably would have considered Christ a kook for saying what He said.

John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser."

[ NOTE: What kind of photosynthesis-dependent lower lifeform was Jesus equating Himself with? A tomato vine? Some other plant or creeping vegetation? Is there any other type of vine except "true" ones? Are there "false" vines? Was it a Holy-Family enterprise, with the vegetation-plant Jesus being pruned by "His Father?" ]

Does ALL THAT help any? NO?

Let's continue with some other alleged words of Jesus Himself in the New-Testament book of Revelation:

Revelation 3:1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: `These things says He who has The Seven Spirits of God and The Seven Stars: I know your works, and that you have a name that you live, but you are dead. [ A post-mortem autopsy and cremation or burial thus required? ]
4 You have a few names even in Sardis, who have not defiled their clothes; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.
5 He (maybe also she?) who overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white clothes; and I will not blot out his (and her?) name from The Book of Life, but I will confess his/her? name before My Father and before His angels.

[ NOTE: Seems like the Sardisians were engaging in dirty employment or recreation, and needed to head toward their nearest laundromat. The Divine preference to "white" as the assigned color of their clothing - rather than red or green or blue or whatever - is intriguing. Perhaps such is a dejavu throwback to:

Ecclesiastes 9:8 Let your garments be always white; let not oil be lacking on your head.

Oh well, at least KFC's Colonel Sanders complied. ]

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: `These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no human shuts, and shuts and no human opens:
8 I know your works. Hey, I have set before you an open door, and no human can shut it. For you have little strength, and have kept My Word [ WHICH "Word?"], and have not denied My name.
9 Hey, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie . . . hey, I will make them to come and worship at your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

[ NOTE: Such demonic "jews" mentioned not only are ones who deny the authenticity and authority of the Son-of-God-Messiah Lord Jesus Christ, part of the Holy Trinity of the Godhead, but who also deny proper definition and presentation of His Law and in its place concoct and impose human-replacement legalistic regulations, restrictions, rituals, rights, rites, and rules:

Mark 7:13 . . . thus making the Word of God of no effect through your tradition, which y'all have delivered. And many like things y'all do."

Romans 2:17 Hey, you are called a Jew and rest in the law and make your boast of God,
18 and know His will and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed from the law,
19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.
21 You therefore who teach another, teach you not yourself? You who preach that a human should not steal, do you steal?
22 You who say that a human should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege?
23 You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?
24 For, "The name of God is blasphemed among the nations through you," as it is written.
25 For circumcision [ on males only ] truly profits if you keep the law; but if you break the law, your [ snipped-penis ] circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the non-circumcised keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his/her? non-circumcision be regarded as circumcision?
27 And shall not the naturally non-circumcised, if they fulfill the law, judge you, who has the letter and circumcision and transgress the law?
28 For he/she? is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is circumcision outward in the flesh.
29 But he/she? is a Jew who is one inwardly, whose circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit and not in the letter, and whose praise is not from humans, but from God.

Revelation 3:12 He (and she?) who overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God [ prepare to get plastered, and permanently immobilized? ] , and he/she? shall go out no more; and I will write upon him/her? the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is New Jerusalem, which comes down out of Heaven from My God, and I will write upon him/her? My new name.
14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: `These things says The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, The Beginning of the Creation of God:
17 Because you say, "I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing," and know not that you are wretched and miserable, and poor and blind [ a handicap an opthalmologist could correct? ] and [ worse-than-swimwear-mis-clad ] naked,
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich, and white clothes [ there we go again with the clothing-color preference ] , that you may be clothed and that the shame of your [mopheaded/sleevesless/slacksless/soxless] [loose-long-haired/arms/legs/feet] nakedness may not appear, and anoint your eyes with eye salve [ maybe Visine or Mural 128? ], that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I [intolerantly and judgmentally] criticize and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Hey, I stand at the door and knock [ texting might be less noisy ]; if any man hear My voice and open the door, [ WHAT "door?" ] I will come in to him/her?, and will dine (not simply "eat") with him/her?, and he/she? with Me.

Are we not right on by concluding that much of the above Scripture text is euphemistic, metaphorical, and symbolic?

Such euphemisms and symbols clearly and certainly do refer to actual entities and phenomena of reality -- despite the sometimes-foolish-sounding indirect descriptions of such using allusive euphemisms and symbols.

It is the task of conscientious readers of Holy Writ to figure out, decipher, and interpret (the best they can using other Scripture in relation to actual direct specific and appropriate words applied to actual items of known reality in accord with the best definitions thereof in common and reliable English dictionaries) figurative semantics of Sacred Text, aptly qualifying what is in dire need of being appropriately and properly qualified.
