Just for Some

Some of the legislation and rulings of the United States government have had both a positive [good] effect and a negative [evil] effect.

For example, the 18th Amendment of the United States Constitution was repealed after it was enacted, which Amendment involved restriction on the production, transfer, and sale of alcoholic beverages.

The good effect that it had was to not only protect the quality of inspected liquor so people did not get sick with "gut-rot," plus it sort of sent a strong signal to people to not get drunk with liquor, and gave protection to teetotalers who refused to drink any potentially-intoxicating beverage, which particularly Baptist teetotalers did have some Biblical basis (but only some) to avoid ingesting alcoholic drink and building houses:

Jeremiah 35:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 "Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak with them, and bring them to the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers; then offer them wine to drink."
4 I brought them to the house of the LORD into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was near the chamber of the princes, above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, keeper of the threshold.
5 Then I set before the Rechabites pitchers full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, "Drink wine."
6 But they answered, "We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, 'You shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons for ever;
7 you shall not build a house; you shall not plant seed; you shall not plant or have a vineyard; but you shall live in tents all your days, that you may live many days in the land where you travel.'
8 We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, ourselves, our wives, our sons, or our daughters
, 9 and not to build houses to reside in. We have no vineyard or field or seed;
10 but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed and done all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
12 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
13 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Go and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will you not receive instruction and listen to my words?" says the LORD.
14 The command which Jonadab the son of Rechab gave to his sons, to drink no wine [the prohibition to not build houses was not included here, however], has been kept; and they drink none to this day, for they have obeyed their father's command. I have spoken to you persistently, but you have not listened to Me.
16 The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have kept the command which their father gave them, but this people has not obeyed Me.

Genesis 19:34 And on the next day, the first-born said to the younger, "Hey, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve offspring through our father."
35 So they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger got up, and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she got up.

Leviticus 10:8 And the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying,
9 Drink no wine nor strong drink, you nor your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations.

Numbers 6:20 and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD; they are a holy portion for the priest, together with the breast that is waved and the thigh that is offered; and after that the Nazirite may drink wine.

Judges 13:4 Therefore watch out, and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean,
7 but he said to me, 'Hey, you shall conceive and bear a son; so then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from birth to the day of his death.'"

Psalm 60:3 You have made Your people suffer hard things; You have given us wine to drink that made us reel.

Proverbs 23:29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
30 Those who prolong over wine, those who go to try mixed wine.
31 Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly.
32 At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
33 Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind utter perverse things.
34 You will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, like one who lies on the top of a mast.
35 "They struck me," you will say, "but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink."

Luke 1:15 ...for he will be great before the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

First Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the non-righteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites,
10 ....[not] thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit

First Timothy 3:8 Deacons likewise must be serious, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for gain

The evil effect of the 18th Amendment was that it gave a wrong impression that drinking even small amounts of wine is a damnable sin, and could lead to becoming intoxicated (which irrational and illogical mis-reasoning would be similar to advocating that people stay away from knives - because they might stab themselves with them; avoid being around rope - because they might hang themselves with it; disassociate from pretty women - because they might rape or get VD from one, etc.)

To counter that (and one of the causes why the 18th Amendment was understandably and thankfully repealed), Scripture also states:

Genesis 27:28 May God give you of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and wine.
37 Isaac answered Esau, "Hey, I have made him your master, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants, and with grain and wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for you, my son?"

Judges 19:19 We have straw and provisions for our donkeys, with bread and wine for me and your maidservant and the young man with your servants; there is no lack of anything."

Ruth 2:14 And at mealtime Boaz said to her, "Come here, and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the wine." So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed to her parched grain; and she ate until she was satisfied, and she had some left over [not an efficient way to get obese].

Psalm 104:14 You do cause the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth,
15 and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread to strengthen man's heart.

Proverbs 31:6 Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress;

Ecclesiastes 9:7 Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already approved what you do.

Song 8:2 I would lead you and bring you into the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her that conceived me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the juice of my pomegranates.

Matthew 9:17 Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved."

Matthew 11:16 But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates,
17 'We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.'
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon';
19 the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Hey, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by her works."

Luke 7:33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine; and you say, 'He has a demon.'
34 The Son of man has come eating and drinking [wine - one can assume and not presume]; and you say, 'Hey, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'
35 Yet wisdom is justified by all her children."

John 2:1 On the third day there was a marriage [NOT "wedding"] at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there;
2 Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples.
3 When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."
4 And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come."
5 His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
6 Now six stone jars were standing there, for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim.
8 He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the steward of the feast." So they took it.
9 When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward of the feast called the bridegroom
10 and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now."

First Timothy 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

Similarly, other legislation and rulings of the United States government have had both a positive [good] effect and a negative [evil] effect. In fact, the dire effect they had was, at times and hypocritically, the exact OPPOSITE of what should have been.

For example, the 1964 Civil Rights Act had the [positive] effect not merely of giving Negroes the same access as Caucasians to the same public-restroom lavatory facilities, equal pay for equal work, equal employment plus housing and welfare-benefit opportunities...but [negatively] gave "blacks" or "browns" (some of whom legitimately were classified as: "niggars") injust preferential and mandatory-quota treatment involving all sorts of government-related programs and perks -- thus in fact disfavorably discriminating against both Caucasians and Asians.

Along similar lines, although having some positive effect of women not being abused nor deprived....

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

First Timothy 5:8 If any one does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his own family, he has disowned the faith and is worse than an disbeliever.

....the gender-sexist Equal Opportunity Act, as did the sexist 19th Amendment, had even MORE very-serious and far-reaching negative effects than the repealed 18th Amendment....in mandating preferential hiring quotas and eligibilities of all kinds in favor of women and thus against men -- inciting women nationwide to leave their homes and children to daycare so they began chauvenistically competing against men in practically every area of occupation imaginable, and even resulted in many of them arrogantly exercising non-submissive insubordination resulting in increased number of divorces, and so adversely affected formerly-stable nuclear family across America as such feminist-sexist twits presumed that their work was equal to men, their innate and physical capacities and capabilities were equal to those of men, and their pay should be therefore be equal to what men earned on baseless grounds -- all in obvious and flagrant violation against such Bible passages as:

Numbers 30:1 Moses said to the heads of the tribes of the people of Israel, "This is what the LORD has commanded.
2 When a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
3 Or when a woman vows a vow to the LORD, and binds herself by a pledge, while within her father's house, in her youth,
4 and her father hears of her vow and of her pledge by which she has bound herself, and says nothing to her; then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge by which she has bound herself shall stand.
5 But if her father expresses disapproval to her on the day that he hears of it, no vow of hers, no pledge by which she has bound herself, shall stand; and the LORD will forgive her, because her father opposed her.
6 And if she is married to a husband, while under her vows or any thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she has bound herself,
7 and her husband hears of it, and says nothing to her on the day that he hears; then her vows shall stand, and her pledges by which she has bound herself shall stand.
8 But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he expresses disapproval, then he shall make void her vow which was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips, by which she bound herself; and the LORD will forgive her.
9 But any vow of a widow or of a divorced woman, anything by which she has bound herself, shall stand against her.

Isaiah 3:12 My people: children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. Oh my people, your leaders mislead you, and confuse the course of your paths.

Nahum 3:11 You also will be drunken, you will be dazed; you will seek a refuge from the enemy.
12 All your fortresses are like fig trees with first-ripe figs--if shaken they fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Hey, your troops are women in your midst. The gates of your land are wide open to your foes; fire has devoured your bars.

Ecclesiastes 7:25 I turned my mind to know and to search out and to seek wisdom and the sum of things, and to know the wickedness of folly and the foolishness which is madness.
26 And I found more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters; he who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.
27 Hey, this is what I found, says the Preacher, adding one thing to another to find the sum,
28 which my mind has sought repeatedly, but I have not found. One man among a thousand I found, but a woman among all these I have not found.
29 Hey, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many devices.

First Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
8 For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have [male-authority] power over her [subject-to-male-authority] head, because of the angels.
11 Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God.

First Corinthians 14:32 The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,
33 for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as it is in all churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not allowed to them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home, for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 What? Did the Word of God come out from you? Or did it come to you only?
37 If any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

First Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
7 for which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8 It is my will therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting.
9 In like manner also, women should adorn themselves modestly in decent apparel, with restraint and sobermindedness, not with broided hair or gold or pearls or costly array,
10 but, as becomes women professing godliness, with good works.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived; but the woman, being deceived, was in the transgression.
15 Nevertheless, she shall be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith and love and holiness with sobermindedness.

First Peter 3:7 Likewise you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker gender, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered.

Titus 2:1 But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine.
2 Bid the older men be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in consistency.
3 Bid the older women likewise to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good,
4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,
5 to be sensible, chaste, domestic, kind, and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be discredited.

If I was in enough governmental authority, I would do all that I could to eliminate the [gender-sexist] Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, repeal the [gender-sexist] 19th Amendment, abrogate the [racist] 1964 Civil Rights Act, impeach both feminists Sotomayor and Kagan on The High Court, and have well-funded and persuasively-publicized recall elections against Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Hillary Clinton, and a host of other women in charge over men within government.

Satan has had his own [marxist] substitution against (and not "for") Christian socialism described in the New-Testament book of Acts:

Acts 2:44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common;
Acts 2:45 and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.

The difference is that the Christian expression of godly socialism (some of which seems to be obligatory, especially regarding proper protocol for donated contributions into offering plates on Sunday morning) was voluntary and NOT indiscriminately imposed by law:

Philemon 1:10 I appeal (i.e. request) to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I have become in my imprisonment.
11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
12 I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart.
13 I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel;
14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own free will.
15 Perhaps this is why he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back for ever,
16 no longer as a slave but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
17 So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me.
18 If he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, charge that to my account.
19 I, Paul, write this with my own hand, I will repay it - to say nothing of your owing me even your own self.
20 Yes, brother, I want some benefit from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ.
21 Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.
22 At the same time, prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping through your prayers to be granted to you.

Notice that "slavery" mentioned above is not the oppressive-plantation-owners type presumed by some proponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which not only (in essence) forced indiscriminate unions and associations of blacks with whites, old with young, men with women, crippled with non-crippled, those of one foreign-country ethnic group and foreign speech with those of a different foreign-country ethnic group and foreign speech -- all against the basic inclinations and desires of the ones who (by law-demanded inuendos) were forced to inclusively merge....all for the sake of self-righteous, anti-Biblical-deviate, marxist-like perpetrators presuming that they were earning some type of self-atoning brownie points to get into heaven, purportedly doing away with sex, age, race, creed, gender, (and later on, sexual orientation) distinction and differentiation for all sorts of diabolical and selfish causes -- all in the pseudo-sacred name of "preserving the Union," Lincoln-style.

Actually, the end result of such has been to disasterously more or less require employers to hire handicapped for certain jobs requiring non-handicapped people; more or less incite blacks to date and marry whites and force white to date and marry blacks; more or less infer that non-Catholics be allowed to join Catholic groups like the Knights of Columbus; almost force anti-homosexuality churches to hire homosexuals as clergy and employees; give highjacker muslims access through a Boston airport gate on 9112001 as much as anyone else; mandate the hiring of cultic professors in colleges in place of hiring orthodox-fundamentalist Christian professors...and the list goes way beyond that -- with the demonic presumption (NOT "assumption") that true and genuine Christians are an improperly-discriminatory harsh and cruel majority who unfairly had excluded poor-and-underprivileged Obaminite-types rather than experienced-and-honorable Alan-Keyes-types, so much so that Obama-Biden-in-08 racist-and-worse, insurrectionist activists and their conspirators demanded that questionable-birthplace Barack and cohorts "should be given an opportunity to discover and develop their full potential...."

.....when, in fact, authentic Christians are actually a persecuted and suppressed minority (constantly besieged by such Herodian-like antagonists as the so-called American Civil Liberties Union, Southern Poverty Law Center, Americans United Against Separation of Church and State, etc.).....but who - fortunately and by God's grace - have had enough of a majority effect in America's past history to spare the United States much Divine retaliatory destruction similar to such as happened to both Sodom and Gomorrah millenia ago:

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to Me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and do many mighty works in Your name?'
23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; leave Me, you evildoers.

Luke 13:23 And some one said to him, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?" And He said to them,
24 Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
25 When once The Householder has risen up and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, open to us.' He will answer you, 'I do not know where you come from.'
26 Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.'
27 But he will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you come from; leave Me, all you workers of iniquity!'
28 There you will weep and gnash your teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob [Mohammed not included] and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves thrust out.

Romans 9:27 And Isaiah proclaims concerning Israel: "Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved...

In typical, warped, marxist-like, economic class-struggle immentality, the allegedly "underprivileged" are demonically incited by devilish pseudo-"progressives" to complain against hard-working rich, many of which wealthy corporate execs and management provide at least minimum-wage jobs for many less-financially-blest helping them avoid outright bankruptcy... thus plainly exposing the purportedly-"progressive" trouble-causers who grossly misapply and misinterpret the following Scriptural passage:

James 2:1 My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
2 For if a man with gold rings and in fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in,
3 and you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, "Have a seat here, please," while you say to the poor man, "Stand there," or, "Sit at my feet,"
4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Listen, my beloved brethren. Has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?
6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you, is it not they who drag you into court?
7 Is it not they who blaspheme that honorable name which was invoked over you?

....when, in fact, the Lord's intention is clearly:

Matthew 7:6 Do not give [unionista, graffiti-and-drug-gang-blacks-and-hispanic, lazy-welfare-recipient, AIDS-infected-impenitent-homo] dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before [antisemitic islamic-terrorist] swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you.

Luke 3:14 Soldiers also asked him, "And we, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Rob no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your wages."

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for He has said, "I will never fail you nor reject you."

Forced sharing with fools is not what the Lord intends:

Matthew 25:1 Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.
2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them;
4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.
5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.'
7 Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
9 But the wise replied, 'Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.'
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open to us.'
12 But he replied, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

Finally, suppose I was someone with a lot of $5 bills to give away, and I went to some crowded public gathering where all types of people of both genders were standing and waiting in line. I might then walk alongside everyone, and hand out $5 bills, but ONLY to non-mopheaded gals here and there who were wearing single ponytails in the back of their heads, long-sleeved tops, roomy slacks and not legs-baring shorts nor shortened skirts, and socks under their sandals.

Some of the gals I handed the $5 bills to might ask why, as would the gals who I did not hand $5 bills to. A safe (but perhaps cowardly) answer would be to tell them that I was giving away $5 to various gals I selected at random, but "had only so many to give away" and could not give to every gal. The [immodestly-misattired] gals I did not give $5 bills to would be both disappointed and jealous against (not "of") the [modestly-attired] gals who did get the $5 bills....but their reaction would be tempered, as long as everyone thought that the giveaway was of a completely arbitrary and random type.

However, if I were honestly frank and explicit in telling whoever asked the precise reasons why some gals got the $5 bills while others did not get the $5 bills, I am sure there would be copious amounts and severities of nasty and hostile vocal comments expressed, especially by the "deprived" gals.

Nevertheless, if I was in governmental authority, I would apportion and not apportion all sorts of welfare benefits as described above, in terms of those responding and then responding with either positive answers or negative answers to some equivalent of a Preliminary Biblical-Doctrines-Compliance Form and a Final Biblical-Doctrine-Compliance Form.
