"Nice Try"

While my now-deceased dad was alive, he sometimes referred to a guy in his hometown back in Wisconsin who used to walk around naked now and then.

Dad told me that "it was just him" and "he did not know what he was doing" so "you can't really blame him for doing what he could not help himself to not do."

I never did buy that, although I realize that those who put themselves in a severely intoxicated state, whether by excessive consumption of alcoholic beverage(s) or taking narcotics of various types into their body, have put themselves in a situation were they seem to be incapable of controlling what they say and do.

Notice that I said: "seem."

If I ever got into such an involuntarily inebriated situation, I really do think that I would realize that I am not in full control of myself, and I would promptly want to do nothing but lay down somewhere safe enough so that I neither hurt myself nor others.

So, I would realize and honestly be fully aware of the state I was in and thus do what I just mentioned.

Many times in the news we have heard of the so-called "Insanity Plea" or "Insanity Defense" used by a criminal's lawyer in court. I have heard a lot of people pooh-pooh that escape irrationalization, and rightly so.

That defense is almost invariably and always obviously invalid and moot -- but if it is true that some foreign power has caused some person to involuntarily say or do what that person did not (of their own free will) want to do, the conclusion in that case would be that the person was under non-solicited duress and in reality and in fact could not realistically help themselves or stop doing what the foreign power caused them to do.

And even if the person could be considered insane when committing some criminal act, the person could yet be held responsible for causing themselves to become insane at the time (unless, again, some foreign power outside of themselves involuntarily forced them, by perhaps chemical injection or ingestion or electrical-apparatus manipulation, to do what the person did not of their own choice want to do).

For example, the person could be held criminally responsible for causing themselves to become drunk, and punished accordingly even for that, concordant with:

Isaiah 28:1 Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!

First Corinthians 6:10 [neither] thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit...

First Peter 1:13 Therefore dress up your minds, be sober, set your hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
First Peter 4:7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore keep sane and sober for your prayers.
First Peter 5:8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.

A classic example, recorded in the Bible, which clearly proves that even those insane and considered insane "know what they are doing" enough to either want to give in to their crazy condition, or not want to give into it (and sometimes want to get help, if need be, to assist them in not giving into their insanity and what they have at least previously been quite aware of will transpire if they themselves do what it takes to become insane and the dire effects against themselves and others).

Note that the following story and account in Scripture refers to a severely-possessed man, who, with his free will and consequential control of what his body does and where it goes, does not run away from Jesus when he see Him (though the demons inside the man want the man to run away from Jesus), but (realizing his serious need for help) runs to Jesus, falls down at the feet of Jesus (which they demons inside the man did not want the man to do), and even worships Jesus (which also the demons inside the man did not want the man to do):

Mark 5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
5:2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him from out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

[ NOTE: A point of information here. Mark is, similar to what author Moses did linking creation descriptions of chapter 1 and chapter 2 of the Old-Testament book of Genesis, giving an overview to the entire account here with the words "met Him" - in that the location of the man "meeting Jesus" as it states in verse 2 above, is at first not near nor next to Jesus, but rather at some distance, as obviously indicated by verse 6 below where it states that the man "saw Jesus far off" from where he then ran to Him ]

5:3 who had his dwelling among the tombs. And no man could bind him, no, not even with chains,
5:4 because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been ripped apart by him and the fetters broken in pieces; neither could any man tame him.
5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
5:6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped Him,
5:7 and cried with a loud voice, and said, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God that you torment me not!" [Kind of interesting that the man blasphemously takes Divine prerogative in adjuring Christ "by God"]
5:8 For He had said to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit."
5:9 And Jesus asked him [who had adjured Christ "by God"]: "What is your name?" And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion, for we are many."
5:10 And he [that is, the demons inside the man using the man's mouth] begged Him earnestly that He would not send them away out of the country [perhaps that even might infer to The Abyss].
5:11 Now there was nearby the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
5:12 And all the devils begging [Jesus], saying: "Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them."
5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave [but did not specifically order the demons to direct the pigs into the sea to be drowned]. And the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine; and [the demons decided to drown] the herd [which] ran violently down a steep bank and into the sea (they were about two thousand), and were suffocated in the sea.
5:14 And those who fed the swine ran away, and told it in the city and in the country. And the people went out to see what it was that had been done.
5:15 And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been possessed by the legion of devils, sitting and clothed [without porno-exhibitionist public-view mopheadedness, naked sleevesless arms, nude slacksless legs or in shorts or slitted skirts, soxless feet in toes-exposing sandals imposed with the seasonal-style/warm-weather excuse] and in his [non-porno-exhibitionist] right mind; and they were afraid.
5:16 And those who saw it told the people what had happened to [not "befallen"] him who [not "that"] was possessed by the devils, and also concerning the swine.
5:17 And they began to urge Him to depart away from their borders.

Sometimes critics and naysayers might purport that it does no good to inflict arrest, court conviction, incarceration, or even capital punishment (i.e. execution) against criminals (and especially repeat offenders) who have deliberately chosen to make themselves insane, because the demons that enter the person causing him or her insanity (such insanity as exhibitionist seasonal-style/warm-weather-excused semi-indecent exposure in general mixed-gender public view)....because the [porno] demons will simply go to a different body to besiege and conquer. However, no human is authorized to take it upon himself or herself to be the judge of where demons go when exorcised from some male or female human body, pig feeding near some mountain, rabid dog or other beast. The relocation of exorcised demons is God's call. But both blame and fault must be imputed to and against each and every particular guilty individual or lifeform, for the sake of righteous justice, who committed crimes when in their satanic or demon-possessed insanity, as clearly indicated in the Biblical example below:

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God say, 'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden'?" ["any" tree in The Garden? A bit overbroad? "Minnesotans voted for Obama/Franken?" (as some news media stated). No. Instead: "Most Minnesotans voted for Obama/Franken!"]
3:2 And the woman said to the Serpent: "We may eat of the [some of the?] fruit of [some of! Let's get specific, Eve] the trees of the garden;
3:3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" [I don't recall God saying anything about "touching" the Forbidden Tree]
3:4 But the Serpent said to the woman, "You will not die. [all at once, right away?]
3:5 For God knows [and does Satan know what God knows? Does He speak for God? If a pro-homo heretic says that you are homosexual, does that mean you are homosexual, or does that then make you homosexual?] that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God [no one can ever be fully "like God"], knowing good and evil."
3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food [Was poisonous fruit really "good for food?"], and that it was a [questionable!] "delight to the eyes," and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise [Was it desired? Would it make one "wise" or instead merely "knowledgeable?"], she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate [before or after telling him where she got it from?].
3:7 Then the eyes [i.e. conscience, and eyesight related to such] of both were opened [was activated], and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons [cute, but woefully inadequate].
3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day [He treads softly, but carries a big stick], and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the [all-seeing] LORD God among the trees of the garden.
3:9 But the LORD God called [verbally and audibly, or instead by e-mail or snailmail?] to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?" [as if the all-seeing Omniscient God did not know]
3:10 And he said, "I heard the sound of you in the garden [apparently God had not trod that softly], and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."
3:11 He said, "Who told you that you were naked? [Where did you ever come up or concoct the concept of "nakedness?" And then who told you about it?] Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?" [what did that have to do with becoming aware of the abstraction of nakedness?]
3:12 The man said, "The woman whom you [are to blame for giving me] to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate."
3:13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this that you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent [is to blame for deceiving] me, and I ate."
3:14 The LORD God said to the serpent [who had no one to blame], "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.
3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed [the anticrists] and her seed [the Christ]; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
3:16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your conception and pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you." [insubordinate feminist sexism is destined for doom]
3:17 And to Adam he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife [a dangerous thing to do, per Micah 7:5!], and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in labor you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
3:18 thorns and thistles [equipment breakdown, wrong shipments sent, materials failure, power outages, flat-tire delays, employees calling in sick, oil spills, badly-engineered blueprints, "bugs" as light-bulb-inventor Thomas Edison said as one filament type after another failed] it shall bring forth to you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. [and a few animals, if you're not vegetarian]
3:19 In the sweat of your face [with or without a long-sleeved shirt or hanky to wipe it on] you shall eat bread [ wheat or rye] until you return to the ground [whether in a casket and cement vault, or not], for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to dust you shall return." [whether or not embalmed]
3:20 The man called his wife's ["wife's?" When was the wedding?] name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. ["living what?"]
3:21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them [much-preferable all-season fashions].
3:22 Then the LORD God said, "Hey, the man has become like one of us, ["us?"] knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his (or her) hand and take also of The Tree of Life, and eat, and live forever" --
3:23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the Garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he was taken.
3:24 He drove out the man [and probably woman also]; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned very way (360 degrees), to guard the way to The Tree of Life.
