Saint James, in his New-Testament epistle, in his chapter 2 verse 24, states (in essence) that "we" (whoever we includes) are saved (i.e. "justified") by [good?] works (whatever those 'works' consist of).
....in accord with what Jesus stated:
John 6:28 Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?"
John 6:29 Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe--and shudder.
Note that "doing the works of God" to become and [continue to] be, "saved" involves human effort and work, and has NOTHING [directly] to do with atoning against sins -- which redemption was provided only by Divinity (NOT mere human work or effort) being crucified to death on a cross, then resurrected and ascended).
And WHO is "He whom He sent"?
Acts 16:31 And they said, "Believe [on/in] the Lord Jesus [NOT Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Mendez, Schumer, Durbin, Franken, Ellison, Obamascare's De Perle, myself, yourself, and our ilk], and you will be saved, you and your household [them also?]."
Is that it? Is that all?
Well, there is that [alone]....but more (IF a person gets the time and opportunity to do the following):
Romans 10:9 ....if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [which is how The Penitent Thief on a Cross was saved, who had neither opportunity nor resources at the time to ingest eucharist, be baptized by immersion, rob any banks, etc.]
So, as people have opportunity, there is more to being "saved!"

It is easy to detect what we should NOT do to be "saved" (some of which relates to that 'loose-woman adventuress' previously mentioned):

What does "more required to be saved" possibly include, upon which basis God will separate good [proverbial] "sheep" from evil [proverbial] "goats" on Judgment Day after the coming Millennium?
Matthew chapter 25 adds to the list of what it really takes to be "saved:"
Matthew 25:23 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.'
24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not winnow;

In temporary summary, the growing list of what it actually takes to genuinely be "saved" is:
(1) Believing in the Lord Jesus
(2) Confessiung with the lips that Jesus is Lord and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead
(3) "Observing" the commandments of 'Do not murder, do not commit [rather than do not perform] adultery, steal, bear [i.e. utter] false witness [i.e. lie or a perjury], defraud [relates to stealing], dishonor your [biological or adopted] father and mother [and there are more of the Ten Commandments to perhaps "observe"]
(4) Being baptized
(5) Sell all possessions and distribute to the poor (if "rich" - however that is and is not determined)
(6) Not being a fornicator, idolater, adulterer, effeminate, sodomite, thief, greedy, drunkard, reviler, nor robber
(7) Being washed
(8) Investing at least one "Talent" [whatever]
(9) Giving food to a hungry person, drink to a thirsty person, welcome to some stranger, clothing to someone naked [then denuding them for sex later on?], visit to some sick person, visitation to some prisoner.

When we hear someone state that those of religions other than othodox and fundamentalist Christianity are "people of faith," are they trying to obfuscate something?

David acknowledged some hatred is caused by his own doing:
Psalm 35:19 Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause.
38:19 Those who are my foes without cause are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
