In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates.

Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn't want to work; there simply weren't any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people - about 30 daily.

The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.

We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany , where Hitler had been in power since 1933, and had been told that they didn't have unemployment or crime, plus they had a high standard of living.

Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group -- Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria.

We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back.

Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

We were overjoyed, and for three days we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed.

After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.

Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn't support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been required to give up for marriage.

Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler's picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn't pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang "Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles," and had physical education.

Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.

My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn't do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun - no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt it was tolerable.

Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home, would go back to my old friends, and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn't exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.

In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant if you didn't work, you didn't get a ration card, and if you didn't have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn't have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.

Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.

When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children.. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.

Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna . After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.

As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income. Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.

We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. He couldn't meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.

We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.

In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps . The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work.

I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.

As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.

Next came gun registration.. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.

No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.

Totalitarianism didn't come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria . Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little eroded our freedom.

Fast forward to 2010, with socialistic Obama and Pelosi forcing everyone to purchase health insurance or else be fined by the IRS....while Kathryn Jeffords Schori (present homofeminist head of the episcopal church) regards a mixed-up menu of piss-with-pop/poop-with-pudding-equivalent "inclusive" "diversity" more important than the pseudo-constrictive morality directives of The HOLY BIBLE.

How did Hitler and his nazis discriminate as to who was a "jew" and who wasn't? By "jewish" last names or "jewish" bodily features? Membership in a synagogue or "jewish-sounding" association? Government-questionnaire answers? Maybe a combination of all such, so as to know who to force the wearing of Star of David lapels and assemble into concentration camps such as Auschwitz, Dachau, and Buchenwald.

Perhaps der Fuehrer should have given jews more time to become Evangelical or Catholic Christians rather than cutting their opportunity short by gassing and burning them in concentration camp ovens first, and should have known that salvation for humankind was not from imaginary "aryans" but instead:

John 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews (or as the Germans and Greeks would say: Juden).

Romans 11:23 And even the [temporarily bad jews], if they do not persist in their disbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again.
24 For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree.
25 Lest you be wise in your own conceits, I want you to understand this mystery, brethren: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles come in,
26 and so all Israel will be saved; as it is written, "The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob"
27 "and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins."
28 As regards the gospel they are enemies of God, for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.
29 For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

Sadly, there is an obvious denial of real and bonafide "jewishness" among many, including antisemitic cultic educrats and some so-called "intellectuals" besides certain Israel-hating government leaders here and especially abroad. For instance, A-mini-jihad (as I aptly term him) shrewdly does not deny the Holocaust of the 1940s, but instead relentlessly questions it and all archived proofs relating to that.

Some would presume that alleged-"jewish" rituals (religious or non-religious) comprise "jewishness" -- such as categorizing some things as "kosher" or not, eating matzo-ball soup and gefilte fish, doing passover seders, wearing black hats and coats with pigtailed hair, sporting nine-candled menorahs, and bobbing forward and backwards at the Wailing Wall which antisemitic Herod built.

Some would even go so far as to include mandatory hand-washing, not eating pork nor pork products, talking Yiddish, and getting circumcised as ultimate proof of being "jewish:"

Matthew 15:1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
2 "Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat."
3 He answered them, "And why do you transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.'
5 But you say, 'If any one tells his father or his mother, What you would have gained from me is given to God, he need not honor his father.'
6 So, for the sake of your tradition, you have made void the word of God.
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:
8 'This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me;
9 in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'"
10 And He called the people to Him and said to them, "Hear and understand:
11 not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander, (withholding tithes?).
20 These are what defile a man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Notice that in the list Jesus did not include "jewish" health rules of bathing after seminal emission and menstruation, not boiling a kid in it's mother's milk, building another tabernacle according to the exact specs in the Torah, etc. etc. etc.

Whether good or bad, jews as a whole are:

Romans 3:2 ....entrusted with the oracles of God.

When it comes to those 'oracles of God,' Jesus command us to:

Matthew 23:3 so practice and observe whatever [the Pharisees] tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice.

.....but obey God rather than humans when it comes to mere purported "jewish" traditions and human regulations:

Colossians 2:11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ;
13 And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
14 having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this He set aside, nailing it to the cross.
15 He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in Him.
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath.
18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,
19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the universe, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations,
21 "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch"
22 referring to things which all perish as they are used), according to human precepts and doctrines?
23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting rigor of devotion and self-abasement and severity to the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh.

It is clear that there are currently both good and evil jews. Interestingly enough, Saint Paul reminds us in Romans chapter 9 through 11 and Galatians chapters 2 through 4 [and PLEASE read them thoroughly!] that some bad jews can and will eventually become good Jews. Either way, both types retain that aspect of "jewishness" related to blood-descendancy from Hebrew (and also Jewish!) patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (also called "Israel")!

As Moses was qualified to write the first five books of the Old Testament because of his oral Jewish traditions learned from his day-care original mother and family and because of the best-possible royal Egyptian higher-education provided by Pharoah's daughter, so the High-Master 33rd-degree Pharisee Saul-turned-Paul (a.k.a. bad jew turned good Jew) was qualified to write almost half the New Testament.

And how does that master-Jew Saint Paul (though of course not THE Master-Jew Jesus) -- both authentic and genuine blood-descendant Hebrew Israelites of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin respectively according to the geneologies of Matthew chapter 1 and Luke chapter 3 -- define: "true Jews?"

Romans 2:23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?
24 For, as it is written, "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."
25 Circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law; but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
26 So, if a man who is non-circumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his non-circumcision be regarded as circumcision?
27 Then those who are physically non-circumcised but keep the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law.
28 For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical.
29 He is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart, spiritual and not literal. His praise is not from men but from God.

Of the aforementioned, blood-descendant Jews are described prophetically:

Revelation 7:5 twelve thousand sealed out of the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand of the tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand of the tribe of Gad,
6 twelve thousand of the tribe of Asher, twelve thousand of the tribe of Naphtali, twelve thousand of the tribe of Manasseh,
7 twelve thousand of the tribe of Simeon, twelve thousand of the tribe of Levi, twelve thousand of the tribe of Issachar,
8 twelve thousand of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve thousand of the tribe of Joseph, twelve thousand sealed out of the tribe of Benjamin.

Obviously, previous temporary location inside or outside of "Judea" was and is quite irrelevant in terms of defining those "Jews" -- as previous temporary location of Greek or Somalian or Hispanic/Mexican or Swedish people is quite irrelevant in terms of defining those ethnic cultural groups.

"Bad jews" are exposed with:

Revelation 2:9 "'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
9 Hey, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie -- hey, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.

And example of a bad jew was Esau and a good Jew was Jacob - the latter of whom realized the value is acquiring and possessing the birthright promise of faith in and of the LORD, whereas godless and faithless Esau saw no value in such and exchanged it for immediate temporary-gratification pottage:

Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one fail to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" spring up and cause trouble, and by it the many become defiled;
16 that no one be immoral or irreligious like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.
17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears

A little backround:

Genesis 25:32 Esau said, "I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?"
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils, and he ate and drank, and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Later on, according to Genesis chapter 27, Jacob lied in pretending to be birthright-despiser Isaac to get his father's blessing (again, a thing of faith relating to the LORD and His promises). Even though conniving Jacob was dishonest in the process, the end justified the abhorrent and noxious means, and was done because Esau did not deserve such a blessing, being the kind of a bad jew he was. And to show how bad that bad-jew Esau was, he defamed his father by deliberately marrying Canaanite (Cain-like) wives, which is something Isaac told Jacob's matchmaker to never do regarding his son Jacob:

Genesis 24:37 My master [Isaac] made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son [Jacob] from the [idols-worshipping] daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

Genesis 28:8 So when Esau saw that the Canaanite women did not please Isaac his father,
9 Esau went to Ishmael and took to wife, besides the wives he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth.

Genesis 32:3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom,

Genesis 36:1 These are the descendants of Esau (that is, Edom).
2 Esau took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the son of Zibeon the Hivite,
4 And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel;
5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his cattle, all his beasts, and all his property which he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and he went into a land away from his brother Jacob.
8 So Esau dwelt in the hill country of Seir; Esau is Edom.

God's curse because of bad-jew Esau's flagrant godlessness and faithlessness had dire far-reaching future consequences:

Obadiah 1:6 How Esau has been pillaged, his treasures sought out!
8 Will I not on that day, says the LORD, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau?
9 And your mighty men shall be dismayed, Teman, so that every man from Mount Esau will be cut off by slaughter.
18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble; they shall burn them and consume them, and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau; for the LORD has spoken.
19 Those of the Negeb shall possess Mount Esau, and those of the Shephelah the land of the Philistines; they shall possess the land of Ephraim and the land of Samaria and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
21 Saviors shall go up to Mount Zion to rule Mount Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.

Malachi 1:2 "I have loved you," says the LORD. But you say, "How have You loved us?" "Is not Esau Jacob's brother?" says the LORD. "Yet I have loved Jacob
3 but I have hated Esau; I have laid waste his hill country and left his heritage to jackals of the desert."

Romans 9:13 As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

Hebrews 11:20 By faith Isaac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau.

One more than the other, of course -- and whether or not it eternally did Esau any benefit.

The word "Jew" in part related and relates to those blood-descendant offspring of the sons of Jacob (not merely to those of the tribe of Judah, nor wherever they temporarily resided or relocated to).

Keep in mind the following verses to SCRIPTURALLY determine who was/is and who not was/is a "Jew:"

Acts 21:39 Paul replied, "I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; I beg you, let me speak to the people."

[ NOTE: Paul here obviously calls himself a Jew, not an edomite nor samaritan. ]

Acts 22:3 "I am a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day."

[ NOTE: Paul above obviously calls himself a 'Jew' -- not temporary resident of Judea but instead born in Tarsus of Cilicia. ]

Romans 11:1 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
Philippians 3:5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law a Pharisee

[ NOTE: The Jew/Israelite Paul here clearly states NOT that he temporarily resides or resided in Judah, and NOT that he was from the tribe of Judah, but rather was from the tribe of Benjamin. ]

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God for salvation to every one who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Romans 2:9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek,
Romans 2:10 but glory and honor and peace for every one who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.
Romans 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him.

First Corinthians 9:20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the law--though not being myself under the law--that I might win those under the law.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.

[ NOTE: It goes beyond credibility to presume that the word 'Jew' in the seven verses above pertains ONLY to those of the tribe of Judah and/or those who have temporarily resided or presently reside in Judea. Common sense would dictate that the word 'Jew' used in the seven verses above apply in part to blood-descendant offspring of the 12 sons of Jacob/Israel. ]

Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

[ NOTE: Peter/Cephas obviously was called a 'Jew' by the Divinely-inspired writer Paul in the verse above - regardless of whoever of the TWELVE tribes of Jacob/Israel he was a blood descendant of and regardless of whether or not he temporarily or not so temporarily resided within Judea. ]

One final definition of a bad jew:

First John 2:22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

Why?

Proverbs 30:4 Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name? Surely you know!
